The Prawnery first opened its doors in Illovo in June 2020, quickly gaining a loyal following for its unique menu and lively atmosphere. In its first year, the restaurant focused on refining its concept and establishing a strong identity.
The challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic forced The Prawnery to adapt and evolve. The restaurant introduced a curated menu that prioritised quality and sustainability while still delivering the same exceptional dining experience.

The move to Keyes Art Mile at the end of 2023, has presented exciting opportunities for The Prawnery. The new location offers a larger space and a more dynamic environment, allowing the restaurant to expand its offerings and reach a wider audience.

A Taste of The Prawnery
The Prawnery's menu is an inviting journey through the world of prawns and seafood. From classic favourites to inventive creations, there's something to satisfy every palate. Guests can indulge in a variety of starters, including a tempting meze platter that encourages trying a little bit of everything.
For the main course, The Prawnery offers a generous selection of prawn-based dishes, as well as other seafood options. Grilled combos, such as prawns and baby chicken, are a popular choice, while the seafood platter is a feast for the senses. To warm up on colder days, the restaurant also features a Kashmiri Durban-style sardine plate.

The Prawnery offers more than just a dining experience. In addition to their restaurant, they provide exclusive venue hire for special occasions, accommodating groups of 20 to 30 guests. For those who prefer to enjoy Prawnery cuisine at home, the Prawnery Pantry offers a selection of frozen meals. Furthermore, their "My Little Prawnery" service brings the restaurant experience directly to you, with a team of chefs and cooks offering bespoke catering for events of all sizes.
