The Peeping Tom: Worth More Than a Sneak Peek

Joburg Admin / November 9, 2021

This casual, colourful venue is great for a lunch date with friends or a delicious night out with your one and only. While the Peeping Tom’s owners call the place “anti-fancy”, there’s nothing ‘un-fancy’ about the delicious choices on the super-funny and clever menu. peeping tom If your taste buds can handle a variety of light snacks to share or you’d prefer a fabulous three-course seafood spread, you won’t be left wanting. And if you’ve never thought of your food as being sexy before, best believe you will when you see this exotic, but tasty menu. Foodie heaven! While a late lunch with the gang is highly recommended, to get the full effect of the neon signs and yellow lighting, definitely get there for dinner. Old-school “fish and tjips” lovers will be comfortable and “Zuchini Fingers” fanatics won’t stop smiling. Vegan-friendly? For sure. peeping tom The desserts are listed under “Happy Endings”. Enough said.

For the Thirsty

The drinks menu has a little something for everyone – boozy and not – with a wine list that will get you out of your boujie connoisseur comfort zone. Proudly supporting the local wine and craft brewers, bringing your designated driver friend along for sundowners is a smart idea. The high ceilings and industrial feel architecture give the effect of wide-open space, even when you’re seated inside. The retro décor and a few strategically placed flamingos turn the fun factor all the way, while testing your selfie game to its limit. The restaurant will seat walk-ins, but judging by the full tables and inclination to make it a leisurely meal, bookings are encouraged to avoid disappointment, especially on live music occasions. Opening hours for sit-down and takeaways are Tuesdays to Saturdays, 2pm to 9pm; Sundays from 2pm to 6pm. These guys strive to be #fancy_not_fancy, but this place is no dive.
