What Is It?
Disney's live action version of the Lion King will release this July. Starring the vocal talents of our very own John Kani as Rafiki and Beyoncé as Nala, this blockbuster has fans super excited. In the run-up to the film's release, The Bioscope will be hosting a Lion King sing-along movie evening. Joburg's only independent cinema has previously hosted Rocky Horror, Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins and The Greatest Showman sing-alongs. Thanks to the success of these events, The Lion King fans can now belt out their favourite movie ballads without guilt or shame. This is one for all ages, including the 30 year old kids out there. For the adults, there will be a complimentary shot of Rafiki's "special medicine"* to help get the vocal chords warmed up. In addition, wherever possible, there will be a couple of friends in the audience to help lead the singing and get the pitching right! *(alcohol not for persons under the age of 18).

The Bioscope also ask that you bring along some props to enhance the experience: 1. Bring a plush toy you can raise at the moments anyone is held up high at Pride Rock by Rafiki. 2. Sour worms to eat when Simba tries out Timon and Pumbaa's diet. We'll see you there!
