The Best Sandwich In Town At Super Sconto

Joburg Admin / January 20, 2016

From the outside, Super Sconto doesn’t look like much. Situated on the always-bustling Louis Botha in Orange Grove, it’s easy to miss if you don’t know it’s there, but step inside and not only will you find the best sandwich in town, but you’ll also be able to get some grocery shopping done, too. Super Sconto is a family-run Italian deli and supermarket. The downstairs section is where you’ll find anything and everything from pasta and sauces to body lotions and more. It’s a great place to stock up your pantry! But the best part about Super Sconto is the authentic Italian deli upstairs. This place is not known for its service, décor or ambiance, but I can honestly say that they make the best sandwiches in Joburg. Don’t believe me? Try it out for yourself - here’s how it works: pitch up at the counter and ogle the deli treats on offer. They’ve got all kinds of cheeses, cured meats, olives, roast veg, pesto and more. Then decide whether you want a big or small ciabatta roll and take a seat and await your sandwich’s arrival. My favourite combo has got to be mortadella, pesto, artichokes and sundried tomatoes… yum! Trust me, you’re going to love it (their sandwiches are easy on the wallet, too!). If you’re not such a sandwich fan, that’s fine, look out for the daily specials, which are usually pastas, or grab a slice or two of pizza. Or, for something a bit different, order whatever catches your eye and ask for it to be served with crackers on the side. Throw a cappuccino in there and you’re good to go! You can also order deli goodies by weight, which is great if you’re entertaining or need to make the contents of your fridge a bit more interesting. I often go home with a tub of artichokes, some garlicky brinjals and baby marrows – they’re great to add to salads or pasta dishes. So the next time you’re craving a filling sarmie, need some pantry essentials or feel like making your fridge a bit more exciting, Super Sconto is the place to go. Click for more information.
