Spend The Day Out Of The City In Brits

Joburg Admin / July 1, 2019

Dining Out

Stokkiesdraai

Restaurants are hard to come by in Brits, besides the hotel restaurants and the popular South African chains like Spur and Wimpy. However, when travelling, even just for a day or weekend, we want to try something new. This restaurant and equestrian centre certainly fits the bill. The beautiful venue serves up tasty and fresh comfort food. Sit back, enjoy a good burger and milkshake all the while being surrounded by the proud and majestic horses. Contact details: 071 658 7993 | 1 Rutgersweg, Brits, North West

Beestekraal Stasie

This is another unique Brits offering. This restaurant space came from an old converted railway station that used to be a vegetable trading spot. Now it offers a unique restaurant displaying antiques from a bygone era. They pride themselves on the "local is lekker" motto, only using vegetables, chicken and meat from local farmers and suppliers. Try an indulgent burger or schnitzel and browse through their country store. While the antiques are not for sale, they do make an entertaining and educational pastime. You can also stock up on homemade delicacies like rusks and jam. Contact details: 012 2771 297 | [email protected] | http://www.beestekraalstasie.co.za Food

Dikhololo

Huddled between Brits and Hartebeestpoort, this resort and private game reserve offers quality accommodation. The fully furnished four and six bedroom chalets are clustered together in different camps named after specific animals. This resort offers a restaurant, mini golf course, several pools, a teenage game room, playground, sporting facilities, supertube, bar and chess. But we love to spend time hiking and bike riding along the various paths while viewing their selected game which includes giraffe, zebra, dassies, squirrels, hares, eland, kudu, waterbuck, a variety of birds and the newly acquired sables. It features over 350 species of birds, antelope, giraffes, white rhinos and leopards among other mammals on the 13 000 ha of woodland and bushveld. One can also spend the day fishing for carp, bream, barbel and yellowfish, or simply enjoy a peaceful picnic or relaxed braai.
