A huge tourist attraction in Soweto and home to vertical adventure activities to get the adrenalin pumping,
Orlando Towers offers a range of activities for you to live out that adventurous side of life. Other than checking out the sights of Soweto from the top of the
Soweto Towers, be daring and face your fear of heights by bungee jumping between the two towers or a power swing.
Formerly known as Orlando Power Station, the decommissioned coal-fired power station is now a place to go for a thrill. The two iconic Soweto towers are indeed a landmark in the township. For the thrill of a lifetime, take to the skies (for a moment) and
bungee jump off the top of the Orlando Cooling Towers. Interested in base jumping? Look no further!
The Soweto Towers are base jump friendly, offering base jumping as an option for experienced jumpers.
The Freefall Experience at Soweto Towers
The actual jump is a 100m jump from the suspension bridge with a rubber cord around your feet. You can document your adventure by requesting a DVD for R170 or a photo for R100 per jump. There is a weight limit of 35kgs to 110kgs and if you're under the age of 18, you need to have signed consent from a guardian or parent. Alternatively, you can request to do a Straightjacket Bungee, where you make use of their custom made straightjacket and so that you can freefall without the use of your arms.
Other Activities on Offer
Adventure activities include abseiling, ramp jumping, zip lining and much more. This is definitely an opportunity not to be missed. They do not take any pre-bookings. The business works on a first come, first served basis. Too scared to make the jump? You can travel up the side of the Western Cooling Tower in their lift and get a 360 degree view of Soweto from their viewing platform!
