As the world’s leading brewer, AB InBev exists to bring people together for a better world. In today’s unprecedented times, their purpose remains unwavering, even when they are temporarily at a distance.

In a statement released by South African Breweries' (SAB) holding company, AB InBev on 22 March 2020, the brewery has started distilling alcohol in order to manufacture hand sanitiser. These necessary cleaning essentials will be donated to the most remote parts of the country by utilising the mega-brewery's delivery fleet.

As supply shortages intensify in the fight against COVID-19, the AB InBev breweries around the world have begun using technology from their non-alcohol beer brewing process to create disinfectants from surplus ethyl alcohol. Working with local partners, they brewery is able to either package the disinfectant alcohol alone or transform it into a hand sanitiser gel.
