What Is It?
The
Alliance Française Johannesburg is a non-profit organisation devoted to the promotion of French language and culture. In honour of National Nutrition Week 2019, the Alliance presents their annual So Chef! festival. Focusing on eco-friendly food practices and on the strong social power of food and cooking, this festival aims to prevent food wastage and fill hungry bellies.
The main event for So Chef! 2019 is the
highly-anticipated Disco-Soupe. Facilitated by culinary guide, Chef Joey Atchama. Disco Soups are collective and open cooking sessions. Started in France in 2012, to help combat 25% of food wastage globally. The Disco Soupe session sees participants cook up some delicious meals using scraped or unsold fruit and vegetables. But, the best part is that it all takes place in a musical and festive disco atmosphere. The meals made are then redistributed to all participants for free. So, come and cook along with the Alliance Française for a good cause and a good time.
