Seven Studying Tips

Joburg Admin / February 18, 2019

Make A Study Timetable Never underestimate the power of planning. Having a study timetable helps your mind get into a routine of studying certain topics/subjects at certain times. This might also help you remember what you study more effectively. Take Regular Breaks Some people can only concentrate on one subject for 30 or 45 minutes at a time. Figure out your concentration spans and take five- to ten-minute breaks in-between studying. Take a walk, have a bathroom break, do a couple of stretches – anything to just take a little breather. Ditch Caffeine, Drink H2O Sure, coffee and studying seem to work hand in hand, but when you drink coffee you're likely to get a caffeine high that eventually drops, leaving you feeling not so great. Water is a better alternative to keep you fresh and hydrated without any potential heart palpitations. Keep Study Snacks Eating a healthy balanced diet is a major plus in general – and a bonus when you want to study and be productive. That, coupled with some healthy snacking, is quite essential in keeping your energy levels up and get you studying for longer. Test Your Knowledge Avoid cramming and simply regurgitating by testing your knowledge. You can choose to test yourself after each section of studying or perhaps on a weekly basis. The better you answer the questions and come up with your own examples and explanations, the better you understand your subject. Form Study Groups Some people work better with others, so if you are one of those or you're willing to give it try, form study groups with your classmates or friends. Make sure you are disciplined and stick to the objective: studying. Study groups can help you understand a subject better or from a different perspective. You can also find solutions to problems together. Know Your Body's Study Clock Not everyone can study in the evening or in the afternoon, some people prefer studying in the very early morning. Figure out which is the best study time for you by testing each time frame. You might find you prefer the late-night studying versus the early-bird studying – you can only know by trying!
