What Is It?
Join Jeppe Girls High School for the third annual
Ruth First Jeppe Fiesta. This fundraising concert is held in support of the Ruth First Jeppe Memorial Scholarship programme.
The concert line-up ranges from Grieg’s famous piano concert in A minor to a My Fair Lady Medley of Hits. With a little bit of everything in between, including the Can Can!. There will also be a selection of repertoire from the Jeppe Girls Choir and Highland Cathedral - all conducted by
maestro Richard Cock.
A special feature this year is the premiere of a commissioned work –
Cantate for female voices – in celebration of the Jeppe High School for Girls Centenary by SA Composer Franco Prinsloo.
The Ruth First Jeppe Fiesta concert features the likes of pianist Elize Kruger, violinist Mia Björkman-Sun, soloists Timothy Moloi and Dominique Deysel, the Jeppe Pipe Band, Jeppe Girls Choir and Orchestra conducted by Johan Bester and Andrew Pallett, as well as the Jeppe Hlabelela and Marimba ensembles – all accompanied by the
Johannesburg Festival Orchestra. Jeppe Old Girl Carolyn Steyn of 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela will make a guest appearance on the night, too, so don't miss it!
