Help PaperMate help the Tomorrow Trust to raise Literacy levels in South Africa In April 2004, PaperMate launched the PaperMate Literacy Project, which is supported by the Department of Education. PaperMate have committed themselves to this project for five years, whereby 3% of all PaperMate products sold is donated to the Department of Education, helping South Africans learn to read and write. To date, PaperMate has donated an amazing 700 000 PaperMate pens to the Department of Education, which in turn are donated to adult education centers around the country. In addition to the 700 000 PaperMate pens, PaperMate has also made a donation of 30 500 PaperMate pens to The Tomorrow Trust. The Tomorrow Trust is a non-profit organisation that is firmly committed to financing and supporting tertiary education for Orphans affected by HIV/AIDS. The Trust will supply the support structures for Orphans to pass their final school exams in order to follow a path that they are passionate about, whilst creating a future for themselves and their families in society, the economy and the country as a whole. During the months of September, October and November, PaperMate will be appealing to the public to make a donation of R5 to the PaperMate Literacy Project. The proceeds of the donations will be used to supply PaperMate stationery for the kids at the Tomorrow Trust. By sending an SMS with the word PaperMate to 36450, you not only make your contribution of R5, but you also stand a chance of winning 1 of 5 fantastic PaperMate hampers. Functional illiteracy should be a major concern for every citizen, because it affects everybody. Illiteracy excludes such huge numbers of people from decent employment. It also prevents people from absorbing the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about life, society and politics. Every effort to overcome illiteracy is worthwhile, and PaperMate are definitely doing the ‘write’ thing! Help PaperMate help The Tomorrow Trust to make our growing country even stronger by making your R5 donation today. SMSs charged at R5. Terms and conditions apply, free rates do not apply.
