Tolle gained broad acclaim after Oprah introduced him through a recommendation of his first book The Power of Now in O Magazine in 2000. Five years later Tolle published A New Earth which was selected for Oprah’s Book Club, and which she describes as one of the most transformative books she’s ever read.
Both books have since gone on to become international bestsellers, being translated into 52 languages. Thus bringing Tolle’s philosophy of living life in the present to millions of readers globally. The pair have subsequently collaborated on the chart-topping Essential Teachings podcast to bring his work to a wider audience.
And although his books are now 25 years old, Tolle’s influence continues to permeate popular culture. His teachings feature across US rapper Kendrick Lamar’s 2022 album Mr Morale & the Big Steppers, which includes narration by Tolle himself.
Tolle has also previously participated as a key speaker at the Dalai Lama’s Peace Summit. And spoken alongside best-selling author Deepak Chopra.
Struck with severe depression at the age of 29, Tolle experienced a life-changing epiphany. It helped him view his situation and his life through a new lens.
