Reconciling their Christmas puddin’ with some new friends at Nkosi’s Haven
This festive season, Nkosi's Haven in Alan Manor in the south of Joburg, is celebrating 16 December, Reconciliation Day, in a special way. While it also happens to be the second-busiest shopping day after Christmas Eve, some people have chosen to ditch the malls and another day of
pap, dop en chop to rather spend their public holiday helping the residents of Nkosi’s Haven have a wonderful Christmas.
Nkosi's Haven is run by the 'Red Hair with Flair', Gail Johnson, the foster mother of the late Nkosi Johnson. This holistic care facility offers support for destitute HIV/Aids- infected mothers, their children, and the resultant Aids orphans (infected or not). Sunday 16 December will see some tenants of The Parks and many others hosting a fun event for the 73 children and mothers who have nowhere to go over Christmas.
What To Expect
Park Café is making and supplying gingerbread houses for the kids to decorate and eat and soft drinks will be provided by Wine & Liquor.
The Angel Network will make their Christmas really special with gifts for each child. There will also be a beauty element to the day that the little ladies and their moms will love. Hair demos will be offered by
Hair2Go and samples given out of hair products – perfect for teenage girls and boys.
Crystal Clear Skin Care will do facials and skincare routine education while sharing samples of Filorga skincare products.
SAMA-nominated and gold-selling singer-songwriter
Rob Rodell is the MC for the event and he will be rounding off the day with some great entertainment.
