Mozart's Opera 'The Magic Flute' presented by The NIROX Foundation

What Is It?

Following the success of 'Don Giovanni' in 2017, Brooklyn Theatre returns to the outdoor amphitheatre of the NIROX Sculpture Park to present Mozart's 'The Magic Flute'. Regarded as one of the greatest operas ever written,  Mozart’s timeless classic concerns the search for truth and reason, love and enlightenment. With the magnificent Cradle of Humankind as its backdrop, this event is sure to be one to remember. 'The Magic Flute' follows the adventures of Prince Tamino and the bird-catcher Papageno on their quest to rescue Pamina. To assist their mission, they are given musical instruments enhanced with magical powers, which they deploy to conquer the trials and tribulations placed in their path towards a deeper understanding of true love and happiness. The South African cast is joined by acclaimed international performers Martin Mairinger (Austria), Leah Manning (United States) and Seo Young Lee (South Korea).'The Magic Flute' is presented in collaboration with Brooklyn Theatre as a part of the Johannesburg International Mozart Festival 2020. When Is It?

Saturday, 01 February 2020. *The opera will commence at 16:00, but guests are welcome to arrive at the Sculpture Park from 12:00 to take lunch accompanied by musical performances on the lawns among the waterways and arbors populated with monumental contemporary sculptures.

How Much Is It?

Early bird tickets cost R300 per person online.  General Tickets are R350 per person online. *Students and pensioners are entitled to a discount ticket of R200 available at the entrance. Children under 12 enter free of charge. Book your tickets online here.
