A decade ago, Mall of Africa opened its doors with a bold ambition: to be more than a place to shop, but a space where culture, creativity, and commerce meet. Ten years on, it stands not just as a destination, but as a living expression of Africa’s evolving story—dynamic, connected, and deeply human.
This April, the mall celebrates A Decade of Culture with a series of immersive experiences designed to honour its role as both curator and catalyst of contemporary African lifestyle.
At the heart of the celebration is a striking Thread Installation, launching on 24 April. Tenants will contribute coloured threads representing their brands, collectively weaving a large-scale artwork that reflects Mall of Africa’s identity as a unified ecosystem—where food, fashion, and entertainment intersect.
Once complete, the installation becomes a symbolic tapestry of shared growth and collaboration.
Alongside this, an interactive timeline invites shoppers to journey through the mall’s ten-year evolution, offering a moment to reflect on how retail has transformed into experience—blending storytelling, innovation, and community.
Shoppers are also invited to participate in a competition from 24 April to 1 May, with a chance to win R10 000 by engaging with the installation.
The celebrations culminate on 28 April with a live performance by Mi Casa in the Crystal Court. The evening promises energy and generosity, with 500 curated goodie bags, exclusive merchandise drops, and a shared moment of celebration.
