Makhafula Vilakazi - Mandela Is Dead

Joburg Admin / August 30, 2019

What Is It?

Makhafula Vilakazi is a kasi poet, dedicated to telling stories from the neglected minds and bodies of South Africa. His thought-provoking new theatre work, Mandela is Dead, questions Mandela's deal with the white minority. 'Now that Mandela is Dead, should we not be having difficult conversations about his dream for a non-racial society?', Vilakazi asks. 'Can we really become equals despite the ghosts of our harrowing past'? Come and see this poetry-meets-theatre performance at Soweto Theatre this October. Last year, Vilakazi sold out shows at Joburg Theatre, so make sure to book your tickets ASAP!
