What Is It?
British-Tamil rapper, songwriter, producer and activist M.I.A will be making her way to South Africa this June in support of the film Matangi/Maya/M.I.A which follows the singer's career to date and is showing as part of the Encounters documentary film festival.
M.I.A will be discussing the film at The Bioscope Independent Cinema in Maboneng and performing a special gig at the Newtown Music Factory where she will be joined by some of the country's most cutting edge avant-garde dancers, artists, musicians and DJs including the likes of Cape Town-based musician and artist Jakinda, Afro-futurist performance collective Dear Ribane and South African-British DJ Doo Wap.
