Lockdown Lowdown With Sara Jhazbhay

Joburg Admin / April 29, 2020

What is the first thing you'll get up to once lockdown is over? I can’t wait to just take a nice walk around my neighborhood. I crave spending time outside in the sun. I also miss catching up with friends for coffee. However, I still think it’s going to be a while until that happens. Which restaurant do you miss the most? I wouldn’t say no to some Big Mouth in Sandton. I love their sushi and they also have these amazing fried Oreos that are heavenly! https://www.instagram.com/p/B8rL-F1JPKd/ What's your favourite home-cooked meal you've made during lockdown? I’m a huge pasta girl and I love making lasagne! I have this recipe that I’ve been using since I was in 8th grade, everyone who I’ve made it for has loved it and whenever I give out the recipe, the feedback is always great! What are you watching on Netflix? I think a better question is what am I not watching. I love Netflix and I’m always rewatching Gilmore Girls or Pretty Little Liars but I’m also a sucker for a good rom-com or documentary! I love The People vs. OJ, it’s so interesting! https://www.instagram.com/p/B94ng6qJgX0/ Have you picked up a hobby or perfected a skill? I try to not put too much pressure on myself during this time. I feel like lockdown isn’t a productivity contest and I’m glad I’m taking care of myself and not stressing myself out too much about learning new skills. What are the three staples in your kitchen right now? Cheese and corn samosas, coffee and raisin bread from Woolies. https://www.instagram.com/p/BoBpWvYFkqv/ Coffee or tea? Coffee always! Like Lorelai Gilmore, I need coffee in an IV! Who are you in lockdown with? My husband. https://www.instagram.com/p/B_hcWHUJfhL/ What are you currently most grateful for? I’m grateful for my health, my safety, having food on the table and a roof over my head. The list is endless, you can never be too grateful! How do you keep yourself going and motivated during this time? I try to set small goals like “today I will work on my thesis for 1h”, it really motivates me and I make sure I don’t set impossible goals. Less is more and during this time, I believe you should be proud of yourself for simply getting out of bed in the morning. It’s a stressful time for all of us. Be kind to yourself. Also, having a routine really helps me. Putting on cute sweats in the morning, doing my makeup if I feel like it and trying to wake up at the same time everyday, these things make life during lockdown a lot easier.
