Coral
Coral is the perfect shade for the spring/summer season. With a hint of 80s nostalgia, it is everything you need to create a playful and fresh look. But, steer clear of adding blue eye shadow to the final effect unless you are aiming to go for the full disco-era style. Good news, lipgloss is also back! Get yourself a glossy coral pink lippie with a little added shimmer this summer. It's effortless, sweet and super cute.
Fuchsia
Pinks are all the rage on the runway. From almost nude, to bright fuchsia, it's a pink explosion. While it does take some daring to pull off the bright pink look, we think it's just what you need to feel your most confident this season. Again, the glossier the better. But, if you prefer matte lipstick, this works too. This colour works well on both light and dark skin tones.
Mauve
Believe it or not, purple lipstick shades are here to stay. However, the pastel lavender shades are making way for slightly darker mauve and plum colours. These are great for a night out on the town or a special date. As a variant on the classic red, the purple-kissed lip look is super modern. The rule of thumb here is, the lighter your skin the darker shade of lipstick you should try. Of course, rules are meant to be broken, so have fun and experiment.
Bold Red
Everybody loves a good red lipstick. That's why it will never go out of style. While the summer months usually see more orange reds appear on shelves, this season we are opting for deeper, richer hues. One of the biggest lip trends for the season is the bitten lip effect. Basically, all this means is that we are no longer smothering our pouts with product, but creating a blended, disappearing look. Simply smear your favourite red lipstick on your finger and dab onto your lips, from the middle outwards.
Glitter
Bedazzled lips, anyone? Glitter is everywhere in makeup this season. We are seeing it on eyelids, eyebrows, cheekbones and, yes - on lips. This brave choice may not be for everyone, but it's a great way to have fun with your makeup. Wear it to that summer party you have been waiting for all year. For a toned down look, you can add some complementary bling to your matte lipstick. Juts dab on gently and apply a thin layer of lip balm over the top to keep it fresh and sparkly.
