Lebogang Mabusela has forged a bridal gifts shop that manufactures and sells guns. In a vivid performance of the iteration of her bridal shop 'Makoti', Mabusela deals out bridal gifts which give women superpowers and enhance their desires. These guns are a materialization of historic feminist technology. Acquired from across different times and spaces as mythology, messy and missing stories.
Lebogang Mabusela draws from her own childhood memory of a wedding ceremony for this performance. "I was a flower girl at a relative's wedding... An elderly lady opened the gifts one by one. She would say what the gift was and address the bride on how to use the objects to appease the husband and the in-laws," Mabusela explains.
