What Is It?
On the last Thursday of every month, immerse yourself in the vibrant cultures of French and Francophone films from around the world with Le Movie Club. Throughout the year, there will be different themes such as African cinema, French comedy, Animation and Music. All the films are shown in French with English subtitles. This week's film is Geronimo (2014).
In the sultry August heat, Geronimo - a young social educator - tries to ease tensions between the youngsters of the St Pierre neighborhood. The mood changes when Nil Terzi (a teenage girl of Turkish origin) flees an arranged marriage by running to the arms of her gypsy lover, Lucky Molina. Their escape sparks hostilities between the two clans (the Turkish and the Gypsies). When the jousting and the musical battles begin, Geronimo struggles to quell the ensuing unrest around her.
