Kong and Roast is divided into two completely separate eateries – a first in South Africa – complemented by an enormous terrace that is perfect for sundowners after work. Those looking for Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese cuisines will head to the Kong section, while those preferring western grills and seafood head to Roast. kong and roast The Buzz Shopping Centre, corner Witkoppen and Douglas Road kong and roast offers diners two unique restaurants, each catering specifically to the sophisticated palates of both east and west. kong: The colour palate is dark, sensual and mysterious with rich purple coloured walls and black velvet fabrics which are off-set by shimmering, reflective bronze and copper materials used to adorn the sushi bar. Dark woods have been used and five warriors have been stationed above the main restaurant, in replication of Emperor Qin’s life-size army of 7 000 sculpted clay terracotta soldiers, chariots and horses. kong sports a menu of over 70 items, with its signature dish taking the form of seared salmon on black sticky rice served with ginger butter cream sauce. roast: The colour palate is light, neutral, relaxing, modern – yet strangely comforting. A voluptuous, sumptuous space with textured walls and curves is created with sculptured veneer suspended from the ceiling. This wooden art represents the sky, as well as the rich aromas wafting from comfort food dishes that are well loved by all. Boasting over 40 dishes, the roast signature dishes are pan-fried fillet in roast bordelaise sauce with nuggets of bone marrow, and sesame crusted salmon plated on pan-fried red onion and green beans and served with a creamy soy-sesame sauce.
