A weekend of tantalising tastes at the The Jozi Cheese & Wine Festival
From Friday, 6th to Sunday, 8th of October 2006 prepare for a deliciously different day ‘in the country’ as the Jozi Cheese & Wine Festival turns the beautiful Helderfontein Estate into a culinary delight. With each day open from 10h00 to 18h00 events galore will have the whole family occupied.
The perfect time to plan your weekend as the weather improves and the taste buds deserve to be tickled. From breads, cheeses, olives, pickles, preserves, specialty foods and wonderful wines and other delectable produce, select your gourmet favourites to enjoy under the summer sun.
Additional to your entry fee, buy a tasting glass and enjoy the fruits of the Cape vineyards from a selection of the top 20 cellars – the Cape comes to your doorstep. Or simply wander around the stalls and taste and buy fine fare to take home for a special evening. Chat to the producers, learn some of their secrets and take home a day that is reminiscent of country life.
“Kitchen Capers” at the demo kitchen will teach you how to make cheese in your own home, offer superb ideas for new dishes using mushrooms, turn up the heat with a chillli paste eating competition or simply show you how your dish becomes gourmet fare using Nando’s sauces.
To add to the experience enjoy the artworks, wood and stone carvings on display or stop off at the Antique Fair to find that special piece and an evaluation and see the fascinating art of bonsai, the perfect accessory for your home. Belly Dancing and fly-fishing demonstrations will add to the day’s entertainment.
It's all the fun of the Fair as you help your favourite charities by entering all the sideshow competitions to win hampers of goodies. Nando’s will be providing safe entertainment area for the children.
Camel rides for the brave at heart plus lots more mean this festival is not to be missed.
Jacaranda 94.2 will round off the event by providing a popular music programme.

Tickets are available at Computicket plus all Shoprite and Checkers outlets at R60 per adult, R30 for retired folk and R20 for scholars. Under 12s are free. Tickets are also available at the door.
