They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but we beg to differ! There’s nothing that’s truly more important than a delicious dessert after dinner. Or lunch. Or breakfast even.
De Baba Eatery
De Baba Eatery has a singular mission: to make every bite feel like home. With a deep passion for the sweets and treats that they create, it’s no wonder that they are considered a Melville staple. Their goods are baked every day, so that no matter when you decide to visit, you’ll be able to dig into something fresh and delicious.
Depending on how decadent you’re feeling, you might want to pick up a slice of their Double Chocolate Cake, a slice of Russian Honey Cake, or even a slice of Peppermint Crisp Tart Cake. If you prefer bite-sized treats from this Johannesburg dessert spot, we suggest grabbing a few cookies like their Oreo, Biscoff, or Pecan Choco Chip.

Just Teddy
Bonjour! In the mood for a Parisian dessert experience? Just Teddy is a surreal French Boulangerie (that’s ‘bakery’ to you and me) famous for their pastries, which are often accompanied by exotic Middle Eastern-inspired teas. As one of the best dessert places in Johannesburg, the bakers will be able to match you up with a sweet treat that best suits you.
Petit fours, macaroons, and cakes aplenty, you’ll be absolutely spoiled for choice when visiting. Beyond that, the atmosphere is unrivalled. For the time that you spend at Just Teddy, you’ll be whisked away to a sleepy street in Paris, forgetting that you’re actually in Hyde Park.

Goddess Cafe
It’s time to be treated like the goddess that you are. There are no better High Tea spots in Johannesburg that also serve beautifully delicious desserts than Goddess Cafes. Pink is the theme, and if you want to be fully immersed in the scene, you’ll want to dress the part. Bring your furry friend along for something amazing, as Goddess Cafe also offers meals just for them.
Dig into Goddess Cafe’s signature pink waffles with cream, ice cream, or syrup, or indulge in their sweet pancakes ranging from caramel drizzle to crumbled brownie and even classic cinnamon pancakes, each served with ice cream or cream as well.

Pâtisserie de Paris
That’s right, a second French-inspired bakery has made it onto our list; it’s almost like they’re known for their cuisine! Much like Just Teddy, this Johannesburg dessert spot is bursting at the seams with delights that you’d expect to see in the windows of pastry shops in Europe, except they’re right here in Blairgowrie.
Once you’ve flicked past all of the items on their regular menu, you’ll arrive at their desserts. French toast (obviously) with berry compote and mascarpone, classic Belgian waffles, and crepes nearly fill up an entire section of the menu on their own! There are still cakes like Lemon Meringue, Mississippi Mud, and Carrot and Walnut to take into consideration as well.

Swirl Smashed & Rolled Ice Cream
We’ve all had scooped ice cream before, be it scooped into a bowl or out of the tub and directly into our mouths, but have you ever had swirled ice cream before? At this Johannesburg dessert spot, a traditional scoop of ice cream is flattened and rolled into a mini tube, making for an unforgettable experience.
With over 10,000 ice cream flavours available and tons of toppings to add, you’ll be able to make unique combinations for years and years to come! You get to be part of the experience as you’ll be given the opportunity to roll your own ice cream as well! Experience ice cream in a whole new way.
