What Is It?
Joburg’s fantastic Prawn Festival is back once again, bringing Joburgers plenty of delicious food along with an exciting day at the races! The Prawn Festival coincides with one of the major race days on the horse racing calendar - the third and final leg of the Triple Crown and Wilgerbosdrift Triple Tiara series. There will be plenty of world-class racing, there's no doubt about that. And to make the day even more exciting, there will be even more entertainment between the races, perfect for the whole family. And as for food, of course, there will be prawns for Africa!
Tuck into a portion of 12 succulent queen prawns with a side of chips, rice and a sauce! And if seafood isn’t your thing, don't worry, there'll be plenty of food trucks offering guests an array of other exciting dishes to tantalise their taste buds. Also, don't forget to visit the Beer Garden (open to 18 years and older) to grab an ice-cold one to go along with those little critters, set in a real beer fest style.
And what is a race day without thrilling prize giveaways! Visitors will need to keep a watchful eye on the various competitions to be held throughout the lead up and on the actual day so that they don’t miss out.
And as for the little visitors to the racecourse, they will be taken care of at the kids-only designated play area, where the they can play to their hearts content in a safe zone. There'll also be some awesome live entertainment on the day. Don't miss out.
