JoburgPlaces is an inner city tour company, dedicated to changing perceptions about the Joburg CBD. Famous for their insightful inner-city walking tours, storytelling dinners and events, JoburgPlaces tours and dinners are based on exceptional stories of the history, architecture, people, spaces and places of the city.
JoburgPlaces is also the operator of the Thunder Walker venue on Gandhi Square, which comprises three event spaces: the
Scatterlings Arcade, the
Zwipi Underground and the
Town Square Banqueting Hall.

The JoburgPlaces team is made up of passionate inner-city regeneration activists, led by founder, Gerald Garner. Their chief storyteller and guide, Charlie Moyo, offers tourists his bank of knowledge on city history and landmarks with each tour.
JoburgPlaces host a number of tours, including their daily walking tours through areas such as
Marshalltown, Maboneng, the City Centre, the Fashion District and Little Addis. Their storyteller dinners have become legend too, taking visitors on a magical night time tour of the city. What Is It?
Sunday Lunch will never be the same again. JoburgPlaces presents their first Triple Town Trek Sunday Lunch event for 2020 this January. Come and enjoy a three-course meal, presented by three exquisite Joburg inner-city restaurants:
Urbanologi, Zwipi Underground and Marabi Club. Starters will be served at Urbanologi at 1Fox Precinct, mains at Zwipi Underground at the Thunder Walker and dessert at Marabi Club at Hallmark House in Maboneng.
Joburg Places transport you by luxury bus between the different restaurants. Guests will also get to meet the chefs at each restaurant. Lunch in the city will never be the same again, as this will surely be the most exciting Sunday lunch on offer in town! So, don't miss it.

Guests must make their choice of menu beforehand. Here are your options:
Starters:
Tempura Shimeji Mushrooms, Smoked Garlic Relish, Miso Salt with Celeriac Crisps and Carrot Hummus
or
Cape Malay Ceviche Trout served with Onion Catalan, Weiss Pickled Baby Onion and Charred Onion Powder
or
Heirloom Tomato Tart and Smoked Goats Cheese Fondant served with Toasted Garlic, Nasturtium Leaves with Celeriac Crisps and Carrot Hummus.
Mains:
Wild Mushroom Risotto with Beets, Pickled Carrot and Fresh Greens
or
Pomegranate Duck with Baby Spinach, Purple Cauliflower, Asparagus and Pomegranate Seeds
or
Seabass with a Fragrant Summer Herb and Soft Fruit Salad.
Dessert:
Roasted Peaches, Yoghurt Parfait with Olive Oil Sponge

Churros with White Caramel and Salted Caramel

The Marabi Kit Kat - chocolate mouse with an almond sponge served with orange ice cream.

11:30: Guests arrive at Urbanologi, 1Fox Precinct (guests can also drive here and park here).
12:00: Starters served at Urbanologi.
12:45: Bus departs to Zwipi Underground at the Thunder Walker.
13:00: Mains served at Zwipi Underground.
14:15: Bus departs to Marabi Club at Hallmark House.
14:30: Dessert served at Marabi Club.
15:30: Bus departs to drop guests off back at 1Fox Precinct Parking and pick up point or guests Uber home from Marabi, as they prefer.
