Indulge In Chocolate From Baci

Joburg Admin / October 19, 2015

// The Greatest Chocolate Love Story If you were unaware, BACI by Perugina offers indulgent mouthfuls of super-premium confectionary. Perugina was founded in 1907 in Umbria in Italy by Giovanni Buitoni and patissiere, Luis Spagnoli, who made the company’s pralines by hand. With lots of leftover chunks of chocolate, they decided to turn these nuggets into gifts for customers that visited their shop. Soon, hazelnuts became the nutty centres of each indulgent dark chocolate ball, which is where the first “cazzotto” was born. Owing to the chocolate's irregular shape, Buitoni and Spagnoli decided to call their invention “baci”, which means kiss in Italian. And, this charming story doesn’t end there: Spagnoli would wrap a little love note around each “bacio” (kiss) as a hidden “I love you” message to her special someone. Legend has it, that Buitoni himself had captured her heart, and in the spirit of these special tributes, you’ll still find a little slip of paper in all Baci chocolates today. These collectable, tiny love letters are just waiting to be unwrapped, no matter the occasion. BACI by Perugina are available in white, milk and dark chocolate variants. At the centre of each Bacio is a whole hazelnut, surrounded by whipped chocolate and chopped hazelnut filling that is coated in smooth, super-premium chocolate. Available now in leading stores.
