The Burgers
Needless to say, Husdons The Burger Joint offers specialty crafted burgers that are about as good as it gets. Burger options include beef, chicken and vegan. The patties for any of their burger options can be swapped for another of these choices. The chicken and beef patties are both made from free range meat, a fact evident in the taste. With over 13 burgers on their menu, there are simply too many to mention individually. So we'll just mention our favourites. The Bacon Jam, with a beef patty, bacon jam, cheddar, dusted onions and rocket is simply divine. But we're hard pressed to not go for The Player, with a beef patty loaded to the max with streaky bacon, avo and feta. Chilli lovers will love the Wise Guy, stuffed with a beef patty, sweet pepper relish, jalapeño, rocket and chipotle chilli paste.
Gourmet Milkshakes
We can't have burgers without a thick and luscious milkshake to finish things off. Luckily for us, Hudsons offers a total of ten such milkshakes. These are Vanilla, Peanut Butter, Oreo, Bar One, Chocolate Brownie, Cookie Monster, Salted Caramel Popcorn, Strawberry Candyfloss, Nutella Waffle and Vegan Oreo milkshakes. Not only are these deliciously creamy and decadent, but they are also the size of a small child. Unfortunately our top choices, the Nutella Waffle and Cookie Monster, are only available in large. Which simply wouldn't do, as we wanted to try as much of the food as possible and not fill up on drinks. But we couldn't resist and tried the Strawberry Candyfloss milkshake, which was gloriously thick, creamy and indulgent, loaded with a cloud of candy floss, dusted with rainbow sprinkles and finished with a frozen strawberry.
Great Sides
Side dishes can make or break a meal. With sides like Loaded Fries, Avo Fries, Onion Rings, Disco Fries and Truffle Cheese Fries, the meal was certainly made. In fact, we recommend getting a few sides with your appetizers and mains. Just because they are that good. Our favourite of the sides were definitely the Avo Fries. What is that, you ask? Well it's avocado slivers battered in bread crumbs, deep fried and served with sweet and spicy chilli sauce. We don't think we'll ever eat avocado any other way ever again. Yes, it was that amazing!
Bro Food
If the ridiculous burgers, spectacular milkshakes and unique side dishes weren't enough, Hudsons also offers an array of what we can only call Bro Food. These include items like pizza, nachos, ribs, wings, steak, tacos and sliders. And while it may be perfect for boy's night, it's also sublime for the ladies. The Three Little Pigs pizza is certain to delight all diners. It's topped with pulled pork, crispy bacon and pepperoni. And who could resist The Surfer? With BBQ pulled chicken, caramelised onion, sour cream, garlic, rosemary and spring onion, we couldn't. For a lighter meal, try their Bacon Wrapped Poppers, Jalapeño Mac 'n Cheese Croquettes or one of the mouthwatering salads.
Vegan Dining
Vegan diners will adore the plentiful vegan options at this joint. Hudsons has a range of vegan meals, including appetisers, sides, mains, desserts and even a milkshake. The Panko Crumbed Wings with vacon bits, vegan garlic mayo, sriracha and spring onions is a definite must try. Follow this with a Falafel Taco, Vacon Nachos, any one of the six vegan burgers or one of the three vegan pizzas. Alternatively, swap out the patty of any of the regular burgers with a Beyond Meat Patty for just *R35. We love The Influencer Burger, with a Cajun crumbed schnitzel, rocket, vegan mayo and mozzarella, tomato, grilled pineapple, cabbage and pickles. This is paired perfectly with the Vegan Oreo Milkshake. Finish your meal with the Vegan Matcha Ice Cream. To boot, Hudsons offers half price on all vegan mains every Monday.
Cocktail Hour
While this joint has many beer, whiskey, wine and hot drink choices, we can't resist a crafted cocktail every now and then. The Berry Press (Beefeater Pink Gin, sweet & sour, berries and soda) and The Pink Lady (Whitley Neill Gin with pink tonic and candyfloss) are truly Instagram worthy. But we adore The Leopard (Bains, lime, triple sec, vanilla syrup and soda). Or craft your own gin and tonic, by pairing your favourite gin with your choice of tonic and top it off with your own selection of fruit.
