NEW BURLESQUE GENTLEMAN’S CLUB OPENS IN CAPE TOWN The House of Rasputin is the stylish new gentleman’s club on the block. Downtown at 56 Newmarket Street, just a stone’s throw away from The Castle, an old warehouse has been transformed into a sophisticated space perfectly pitched at private bachelor parties and the discerning patron looking for a progressive, up-market night out. “This is not just another gentleman’s club, it’s a slick, beautifully designed venue with burlesque, which makes it a first for this country ” explained the spokesperson for House of Rasputin which opens in February 2006. The House of Rasputin is targeting both men and women. “We would like wives to bring their husbands and husbands to bring their wives,” added the spokesperson. The “Cognac cigar lounge” interior is designed by Kobus Broodryk of Macgregor Forsyth Interior Designs. “Expect walnut veneer finishing, teak floors, highly polished tiles, leather furnishings and warm, soft intelligent lighting,” said Broodryk. At House of Rasputin the focus is on privacy. Individual table dancing is strictly private taking place behind curtains. The VIP room accommodates up to 60 people and the two smaller, more intimate private bachelor party rooms cater for 12 – 15 people. There are nine private lap dancing booths with choreographed burlesque dancers on the burlesque stage. The burlesque dancers are under the creative direction of dance choreographer Vanya Keren of Sky'fy Illusions. An in-house restaurant will be serving a full menu and late-night snacks.
