What Is It?

The annual Henley on Klip Mardi Gras market is back in May 2019. This small village sits on the R59, bordering Johannesburg and Vereeniging. Its biggest claim to fame is the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. However, the yearly Mardi Gras market held in the village is also quite a draw card for Joburgers looking for a day out of the city. This year, the market is Mad Hatter themed - wear your best wig, headdress or funky hat to the event to stand out in the crowd. As always there will be tons of stalls on show, as well as delicious food and entertainment. There will also be a few new additions, including a gin, craft beer and cocktail bar. The event is hosted in aid of local charities such as The Lions Club, Rotary, Henley CPF, Henley Watch, Henley@Heart, Balls an’ All and the Henley Pet Network. So, head out to the far South of Joburg to lend a hand to this quaint riverside community with a big heart.
