The Gen C Traveller Survey: What Are Your Travel Needs In Our COVID-19 World?

The “Gen C traveller” was coined in June 2020 by Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Edmund C. Bartlett. He was speaking about the future of tourism and the type of traveller they had prepared to welcome after Jamaica became one of the first countries to reopen to international visitors on 15 June 2020. Here’s how Bartlett defined the Gen C traveller:As we begin leaving our homes and travelling once again, and until there is medical treatment and a vaccine, we have to find ways to live with COVID-19 in the world. This has created a common global experience that is intergenerational. The post-COVID generation is Generation C. Boomers, GenX, Millennials, and GenZ are all part of Gen-C, defined by a societal shift in mindset that will change the way that we look at – and do – many things as a result of the ravages of COVID-19. Future travellers – or Gen-C travellers – will have a new set of needs not necessarily seen before. They will want assurance that a destination is seriously considering their health and safety as they emerge into a post-COVID world.” Unpacked further, Gen C travellers are looking to be reassured, for flexibility and peace of mind when making any travel plans. At Flight Centre, they’d like to know what you, as a South African traveller, are looking for when it comes to your travel, such as how the pandemic has changed the way you travel, the most critical factors you need to consider before making any travel decision and what types of holidays you want to take. Look out for Gen C traveller survey (1 February 2021).
