Greek Music Sensation live at Emperors Palace

Joburg Admin / April 28, 2009

Cyprus-born Michalis Hatzigiannis is one of Greece’s most popular singer-songwriters and he will be appearing for the first time in South Africa at an exclusive gala concert to be held at Emperors Palace on Saturday, 30th of May 2009. A graduate of the Cyrus Music Academy with a degree in piano, guitar and music, Michalis won first prize in a song contest at the tender age of 15 and a year later came close to having his song “Filise Me” chosen as an entrant into the Euovision Song Contest. His first three albums went platinum and he finally represented Cyrus at Eurovision in 1998 with his own composition, taking 11th position. Michalis then moved to Greece and collaborated with composer Giorgos Hatzinasios and poet/ lyricist Michalis Bourboulis to create the CD single "Angigma Psychis" which was released in 1998 and was certified platinum. He followed this with his first solo album in Greece "Paraxeni Giorti" (Strange Celebration) which in turn achieved double-platinum status, an incredible feat for a young singer-songwriter. He toured the country before the end of that year and Michalis’s career has been a multi-platinum success ever since. He has released over 11 albums and a variety of EP’s, all achieving incredible sales. Michalis has won numerous awards including over 20 Arion Awards (the official Music Awards of Greece) and both the coveted Singer of the Year and Man of the Year titles in the Johnnie Walker Man of the Year 2007 Awards. The exclusive Michalis Hatzigiannis gala concert will take place in the Centre Court arena and will include a sumptuous three course meal. Tickets are priced at R900 and R1600 per person. Date: Saturday, 30th of May 2009. Venue: Centre Court, Emperors Palace For more information and bookings, visit the links alongside.
