Just when you thought Uber couldn't get any cooler, they prove you wrong with a new concept. In addition to their ride app, Uber now allows users to order food from their favourite restaurants. All seamlessly from their phones. If Uber can get a ride to you in five minutes or less, what else can they bring you? And there it is: the logic behind UberEATS.
UberEATS is an on-demand food delivery app, distinct from their ride-share application. They partner with only the best local restaurants to get you the food you want when you want it. At launch, UberEATS already offered some of the best food Johannesburg has to offer, such as Casalottis, Momo Baohaus, Krunch, Fishmonger and Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream. And, of course, one of our favourite — BGR in Rosebank.
The UberEATS app can be downloaded from the app store or through the Uber rides app. Meals can be requested for delivery in Johannesburg from 07:00 to 22:00, seven days a week, with a R20 delivery fee — on par with an UberX minimum ride fee. UberEATS offers those living in Jozi an alternative to getting good food in good time. This gives Joburgers great food at the touch of a button — no minimum order size. The application offers you a choice of restaurants within a 3.5 km range of your location. Uber has estimated a 30%–40% increase in business for partnering restaurants.
