Go on a Wild Cave Adventure in the Cradle of Humankind

Joburg Admin / May 5, 2023

Looking for something exciting, adventurous, and unique to do out in the Cradle of Humankind national heritage area? Well, we have a suggestion for thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies! Descend into the depths of the majestic Sterkfontein Caves with Wild Cave Adventures. It's an absolute must-try experience not too far from Joburg.

Be Adventurous With Wild Cave Adventures

Have you always wanted to abseil? Wild Cave Adventures has the ultimate abseiling experience for you.

Based in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, this adventure and events host offers a unique blend of fun and ecological awareness for families, parties, and corporate groups.

Wild Cave Adventures organises underground abseiling adventures in four caves situated in the Cradle. Each cave offers something new and exciting to explore and caters to varying levels of skills and dexterity.

What Do They Offer?

Whether you are abseiling for the first time or are an experienced adventurist, there's a climb for you. Here are just some of the cave activities they offer.

Cave Activities

Wild Cave Adventure offers four unique cave experiences. Each adventure is led by an experienced guide with emergency services on backup.

The Bat Cave is a prerequisite course before attempting any other cave activity. This course offers a broad introduction to caving and abseiling. You can find out more about this adventure activity here.

Once you've mastered the basics you can move on to the Westminster Cave. This one is quite a tight squeeze, so be prepared to belly crawl your way through the cave. Definitely not one for claustrophobes!

For the more advanced adventurists there is the Swartkrantz Cave and Crystal Cave adventures. These caves features rockface climbing and abseiling, as well as additional abseiling courses. Plus you'll learn all about rock formations and other fascinating ecological features.

They Also Host Events

Wild Cave Adventures caters to families and private events in addition to interesting educational tours and unique team building and corporate events.

Book your little adventurers next birthday with Wild Cave Adventures. Climbers aged from 8 to 80 are welcome to join in on the fun. You'll be kitted out in overalls and hard hats as you explore the depths of the earth.

You can also book a school or youth group tour of the caves. Bring those textbooks to life by booking a trip to the caves.

Environmental Awareness

Wild Cave Adventures are passionate about creating environmental awareness through their tours and adventures.

They are dedicated to preserving the environment for future generations to enjoy. We think that's all the more reason to book a tour with them as soon as possible.
