Since we entered level 3 lockdown, life has returned to some semblance of normality. If you're headed back to work or starting up the school run with the kids, it's going to be more vital than ever to get your morning coffee fix. Thankfully, Seattle Coffee Company has put a number of initiatives in place to ensure that you don't have to go without, even during these strange and unprecedented times.
Throughout level 4 lockdown, Seattle Coffee had been hard at work offering delivery on select menu items from a number of their cafes around Johannesburg. Meanwhile, their coffee stops at FreshStop cafes have been open for orders throughout all stages of lockdown, bringing Joburg coffee lovers their favourite coffee treats under strict health and safety protocols.
Unlike many food and restaurant traders, Seattle Coffee hasn't opted to offer delivery through third party services. Instead, they've reached out to their existing network and cafe staff to work as drivers during this time. This not only helps keep their staff earning a wage, but cuts the cost of delivery to a bare minimum. While this process may have a bumpy beginning, Seattle has ensured their customers that in due time all will be up and running as smoothly as their coffee machines again.

How It Works
Seattle's delivery system couldn't be simpler - all you have to do is call up your closest Seattle Coffee cafe and place your order. Their menu has been cut down to comply with health and safety regulations, but your favourites should still be available, as well as a selection of pastries, muffins, cookies and brownies. If you became your very own barista during lockdown, order yourself a 250g bag of whole beans to get brewing your own coffee elixirs at home. You can find their new menu here. Once you have called your nearest cafe and placed your order, make sure that you have the relevant cashless payment system ready. Check with the barista when ordering if you are unsure of what system your cafe is using. Your coffee should arrive piping hot in due time, but as this system is brand-new, both the baristas and drivers are still perfecting their delivery routines. Once your beverage arrives, thank the driver before paying (please give them a tip if you can) and then sit back, relax and enjoy!Delivery Costs:
- Orders within 750m of the cafe: Free.
- Under R90: R20 delivery fee.
- Orders between R90 - R130: R10 delivery fee.
- Over R130: Free.
Safety Provisions
To ensure both your safety and the health of their staff, Seattle Coffee Company has implemented a number of protocols. These include:- Seattle baristas have been provided two types of masks (plastic shields and 3-ply disposable masks) and gloves which will be changed every hour.
- Their staff have also gone through further hygiene training for the safety of themselves as well as customers.
