The Annual Rose Show

Kick off your spring flower show adventures with the Annual Rose Show at Morningside Shopping Centre. Hosted by the Gold Reef Rose Society, this yearly exhibition brings you hundreds of flowers in bloom. So, come and smell the roses (literally) this October. The Gold Reef Rose Society is a Gauteng based community of rose lovers, which has been operating since 1988. Come and meet their devoted members, who may just be able to give you a few tips and tricks on growing the perfect spring rose. flower When Is It? The Language of Colour at Ludwig's Roses

Ludwig's Roses is the largest rose farm in Africa. Since 1971, they have been growing the finest African roses just north of Pretoria. The Language of Colour Festival is the 48th Spring Rose Festival to be held at Ludwig’s Rose Farm. Come and marvel at the beauty of a million rose bushes in full bloom, appearing like an ocean of colour with an overwhelming fragrance this October. You can expect floral installations, colour exhibitions by Midas Paint and talks on the psychology of colour and how we perceive it. Ludwig's will also unveil their new rose - the Thuli Madonsela rose, named in honour of South Africa's favourite Public Protector. This two day festival concludes with a sunset concert on the lawn. Relax on the dam shores while enjoying this intimate concert with friends and family. The Rose Kitchen will be serving up breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea which includes a colourful macaron bar. If that isn't enough to satisfy your appetite, you can visit a number of gourmet food stalls, Ludwig's gin bar or the Warwick Wine stand. Book a picnic for you and the family to ensure a fun-filled day filled with sweet scents, beautiful flowers and great food. When Is It? Sweets, Scents & Roses at The Herb Farm

The Herb Farm in Midrand does spring almost better than anyone else. That's simply because the glorious scents of their blossoming herbs will intoxicate anyone who enters the maze of plant life in this garden. This October, the Herb Farm will be hosting a Sweets, Scents and Roses market and festival. Come and celebrate local craftsmanship with delicious sweet treats, handmade soaps and fragrances from vendors. There will also be an array of roses on display for your enjoyment. As a bonus, there will be fantastic live entertainment and fun activities for the kids. When Is It? Saturday, 12 October 2019 at 09:00 to 14:00. Where Is It? Johannesburg International Flower Show

The Johannesburg International Flower Show makes its debut at Waterfall City this October. The bigger venue has allowed for even more fantastic flower displays, food stalls and live entertainment. This is your one-stop gardening and flower show for 2019 - showcasing some of the best landscapers, designers and florists our beautiful country has to offer. Browse through the retail offerings which includes everything from crafts and seedlings to gardening gloves, bird baths and water features. You’ll definitely be inspired to create and nurture your own wondrous garden after visiting the JHB International Flower Show, so don't miss it!

The Bonsai Show

Bonsai is much more than a hobby. It is an ancient art, which produces the most exquisite diminutive "small trees in a pot". Come to the annual Bonsai Show at the Garden Shop Broadacres to learn all about bonsai curation. This is a five day living exhibition of elegant Japanese maple, Chinese sacred bamboo, as well as the tropical and evergreen Chinese banyan fig. There will also be talks hosted over the weekend of the festival by bonsai experts and curators. Bonsai hobbyists can pick up all their essential tools at the show. From pots, to pruning books and tools, root clippers, soil and organic plant food such as Nitrosol. The Garden Shop also has an array of oriental statues and water features, so you can transform your entire garden into a Chinese-inspired landscape.
