What Is It?
The Wits Art Museum is an artists hub in the city. Populated by students, academics and art lovers alike, this is the place to be. That's exactly why WAM have instituted a series of
First Thursdays events that started in July 2019.
Returning this March, WAM presents an
evening of jazz, art and good company. Inspired by the exhibition
Paul Emmanuel – Men and Monuments, emerging jazz band Wits Jazz Trio will perform their renditions of struggle songs. Led by vocalist Motswedi Modiba, the concert will blend African traditional rhythms with the slow grooves of jazz. Afterwards discover the intricacies of animation’s dynamic movements with
Bronwyn Horne - A[chrono]mation and experience Paul Emmanuel’s delicate and poignant memorials to the soldiers whose memory have been neglected in war memorials.
First Thursdays at WAM is definitely one event to keep marked on your calendar. See you there!
