Feeding Communities In Need With Legacy

Joburg Admin / June 9, 2020

Legacy Hotels & Resorts, the leaders and experts in independent luxury hotels and resorts across Africa, has partnered with Nutriwell to feed communities neighbouring its hotels and resorts during the COVID-19 pandemic.  This project forms part of the ambitious task of feeding over 10 million children over the next two years.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0KMLbr1e-U&t=2s Nutriwell has helped feed over 1 million children with its range of fortified powdered products, including a thick vegetable soup, soya stew mince, instant porridge and an instant beverage shake. Now Legacy Hotels & Resorts, through its Legacy Pride NPC, is contributing 7 500 individual, nutritionally-balanced meals per day, with the target of achieving 15 000 meals per day for the next three months, and is appealing to others to contribute to the initiative by clicking here.  So far, the project has contributed 16 000 meals to Friends for Life in Alexandra, 48 000 meals to each of the North West’s Mogwase and Ledig communities and a further 48 000 meals to households in Belfast in Mpumalanga. Both SizaBantswana Orphans in Hazyview and Baphemele Children’s Home in Cape Town have also received 15 000 and 27 000 meals respectively. Speaking about the partnership, Robert Hodson, Group Marketing Manager for Legacy Hotels & Resorts, reiterated how the values of community participation and leaving a legacy for the future was something that was shared by both organisations. “Legacy has over 20 properties across the continent, and involvement and upliftment is a big part of our ethos,” says Hodson. “The Coronavirus pandemic has further highlighted the significant inequalities that exist in our country, and now more than ever, we need to help each other in the fight against poverty.”  “By partnering with an organisation like Nutriwell, we can continue our work with local community upliftment, while also investing in the health and well-being of our greatest resource – our children,” he concludes.
