Jairus Ditshotlo Nkwe is the layered personality that is a member of one of the most successful kwaito bands in South Africa, Trompies. He has a story that is fascinating that rolls out like an adventurous roller-coaster. As much as the road to music success was filled with joy and success, it was also accompanied by challenges and pitfalls. Van Wyk: The Storyteller of Riverlea

Showing: Wednesday, 13 November 2019 - Sunday, 15 December 2109 This is the second homecoming of Chris van Wyk - The Storyteller of Riverlea to the Market Theatre will walk down the pathways of the memories of his majestic life that touched so many people. Van Wyk  - the Storyteller of Riverlea, is created and performed by well-known South African actor, Zane Meas, and directed by Christo Davids. The Storyteller of Riverlea explores Chris Van Wyk’s life, his influence as a poet and a writer and as a political activist, as well as his family life and his battle with cancer. This production pays homage to Van Wyk’s humour, political values and his storytelling abilities, all of which has touched the lives of everyone who has read his works.
