Back in January 1961, a group of like-minded enthusiasts formed the Pretoria Live Steam Club. Operating from their garages, they embarked on a journey to build their own trains. Their passion for miniature railways ignited a spark that would eventually grow into a remarkable community.

A Dream Takes Shape
After the inception of the club in 1985, a significant opportunity arose. The Verwoerdburg Municipality offered the club a dedicated site to pursue their hobby and share their creations with the public. This was a dream come true for the enthusiasts.
On 12 June 1993, the club proudly announced the opening of Meerpark. Now known as the Centurion Society of Model Engineers, the park boasts a captivating 2-kilometer track that winds through a picturesque landscape. Tunnels, bridges, and lakes add to the enchanting atmosphere.
A Family-Friendly Attraction
Meerpark is a perfect destination for a family outing or picnic. The park opens to the public every Sunday from 09:00 to 15:30 (except during the Christmas and New Year break), offering visitors the chance to enjoy thrilling train rides. Every third Sunday of the month is dedicated to club members, who showcase their steam locomotives. The park occasionally opens on other days for special events or public holidays.

Ticket Prices and Facilities
Entrance to the park costs R30 per person (ages 2 and up), which includes one train ride. Additional rides are R15 per person. They also have an on-site tuck shop offers refreshments, and braai enthusiasts can purchase charcoal and firelighters. The park’s spacious grounds provide an ideal setting for children's birthday parties and other celebrations.
Private Parties and Events
While the park is closed to the public during the week, it transforms into a magical venue for private parties from Wednesday to Saturday. To book a party, contact Johan Swanepoel at the park or by phone on 064 520 8572 during office hours (09;00 to 16:00).
