About The Chinese Association Gauteng
The Chinese Association, Gauteng was founded in 1903 and is the oldest Chinese association in South Africa. Most of their members are multi-generational South African Chinese.
This association looks after the interests of the Chinese community, whilst at the same time, partnering and working together with the broader South African communities in developing a mutual understanding of each other.
What To Expect at The Chinese New Year Festival
The Chinese New Year Festival 2025 will offer guests a variety of thrills and delights! For your taste buds, craft and food stalls co-ordinated by The Night Market will be onsite, offering an array of delicious treats.
To keep the little ones entertained, there'll be inflatables and theme park rides, as well as helicopter flips.


Adding to the exciting lineup, enjoy over 6 hours of live Asian and local entertainment with performances. From Lion and Dragon dancing, to live singers, vehicles on display, and more.
The highlight of the evening will be the spectacular musical fireworks display staged by Starburst Pyrotechnics at 20:00 to end off the celebrations.
Please note: The Chinese Association have all the JOC & Ekurhuleni Council approvals in place for this event, including the controlled 15-minute Fireworks Display.
One of the other activities during the event, will be the awarding of the TCA University Bursary Awards and PK Pon / Sui Hing Hong Best Matric Awards to the most outstanding Chinese students in South Africa.
