The Cellar Rats Wine Tasting Club hosts two annual wine festivals. Their winter wine festival is set to be hosted at Riversands Farm Village in Midrand this July. We were super excited to hear about this event. There will be a wide selection of producers showcasing their finest wines, bubblies and craft gins and deli products. In addition, there will be stacks of entertainment for young and old. So bring the whole family out for a day in the mellow winter sunshine.
Wine tasting on the riverbanks
This year's Cellar Rats Winter Wine Festival will take place at Riversands Farm Village. This picturesque farm is a popular family-friendly and dog-friendly venue. Come and enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting along the riverbank of the farm. A host of wine makers will have their finest products available for you to enjoy. If you prefer your beverages bubbly, sample a few glasses of sparkling wine or sip on a refreshing craft gin and tonic. You are welcome to bring along camping chairs, picnic blankets or umbrellas to set up along the riverbank as well. Pets are allowed, so long as they are well trained and on a leash.
Kiddies entertainment
Riversands Farm Village is renowned for its kids entertainment offerings. The kiddies play area will be open on the day of the Winter Wine Festival, so you needn't worry about keeping the little ones out of mischief. The Playscapes area is no ordinary playground either. It is an educational playground meant to take children back to the "old fashioned" way of playing and learning. It is one of Joburg's largest outdoor play areas and caters to kiddies up to the age of 12. There is a variety of climbing equipment, a scooter park and an animal farmyard for the kids to enjoy.
The Playscapes area is enclosed and there are always staff on hand to assist, so you kick back and relax without a care. Glass of wine in hand, the sunshine on your back - we can't think of a better way yo unwind. Entrance to the Playscapes area is R60 per child. Giving Back
This year's Winter Wine Festival is an extra special event. Proceeds from the festival will go to Woodrock Animal Rescue. This non-profit organisation provides a home to neglected, stray and injured animals. The work they do is essential, which is why fundraising initiatives such as these are so important. Most animal shelters battle through the cold winter months. Woodrock is no exception. Give back a little this winter by joining Cellar Rats for this event. You'll be doing a world of good without having to lift a finger - except to bring your wine glass to your lips, of course.
