This evening includes a four-course dinner, complemented with a selection of Diemersdal wines. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your tickets for this delectable event as soon as possible.
Diemersdal Estate, a leading family wine farm situated at Durbanville in the Cape, is heading to Chaplin’s Grill to present some of its award-winning wines with a menu specially prepared to complement the offerings from this winery.
Guests will be welcomed with a chilled glass of
Diemersdal Sauvignon Rosé 2021, a vividly coloured, refreshing rosé made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes to which a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon has been added during the winemaking process. This dry, fresh wine has notes of berries and wild-flowers and is one of the most popular wines in South Africa’s growing rosé category.
The first course kicks-off with
Diemersdal’s Winter Ferment Sauvignon Blanc 2021. In making this wine, Sauvignon Blanc juice is frozen at harvest-time – usually at the beginning of February. Six months later, the juice is thawed and then fermented as per usual in the winemaking process. The result is a Sauvignon Blanc with intense tropical aromas and flavours, unlike any other Sauvignon Blanc currently on the market.
The main course sees the
Diemersdal Pinotage Reserve 2020 being brought to accompany the hearty red meat dish. Pinotage is South Africa’s national grape as the variety was created here in 1924 through the crossing of two classic cultivars: Pinot Noir and Cinsaut, also known as Hermitage. Since then this unique red wine with its intense flavours of bright red fruit and spice has won followers the world over. Diemersdal’s Pinotage vines are some of the oldest on the farm and the wine is made through both the fermentation and aging done in casks of French oak.
And with dessert, Diemersdal offers its
Shiraz 2020. Shiraz is not one of the world’s most popular red wines for nothing: a velvety texture, notes of mocha and spice and a smooth, long finish make it as seductive as it is delicious. As a dessert wine, this will truly have the last word.
