Cyrildene is also known as ‘New China Town’. This is because ‘Old China Town’, which is located in Commissioner Street in town, became run down, so many of the restaurants and retailers moved to Cyrildene. In the popular Derrick Avenue, you will find a plethora of authentic Chinese restaurants and shops… key places to look out for are Fisherman’s Plate, Fong Mei and Shun Deck Chinese Restaurant. Just a heads up, most signage is not in English so if you’re not sure what you’re after, it might be best to go with someone who’s been there before.
