Cotton Fest Johannesburg: A Culture-Driven Explosion of Music, Fashion & Art

Joburg Admin / April 17, 2025

Forget ordinary festivals—Cotton Fest is where the culture lives, breathes, and turns up the volume. This annual celebration of sound, style, and street culture hits Newtown’s Old Park Station this April, and it’s not just a festival—it’s a movement.

About the Festival & Date for the 2025 Festival

Cotton Fest Johannesburg returns in full force this year, bigger and bolder than ever. Taking place on Saturday, 26 April 2025 at Old Park Station in Newtown, the festival is a unique collision of music, art, fashion, and sport—a full-spectrum celebration of youth culture in South Africa. With its bold mantra “WE NEVER DIE. WE MULTIPLY,” the festival lives on as a tribute to the visionary Riky Rick, continuing to uplift and expand the creative spirit he sparked. Cotton Fest isn’t just an event—it’s an evolving platform that champions both established names and rising stars in the local music scene, giving them space to connect with fans and make their mark.

Set against the industrial charm of the Old Park Station in Carr Street, Newtown, Cotton Fest transforms the iconic venue into a sensory playground with three live stages—each curated with performances that bounce between hip hop, amapiano, kwaito, gqom, and experimental genres. But it’s not just about the beats. The festival also shines a spotlight on street fashion, graffiti art, and sports like skateboarding and BMX, weaving it all into a cohesive cultural spectacle. Please note that this is an 18+ event, and ROAR (Right of Admission Reserved) is in full effect.
