What Is It?
Conrad Botes will exhibit his work in a gallery setting for the first time in five years this April. Visit this new exhibition, titled
The Goliath Protocol at the
Everard Read Circa Gallery in Rosebank. The show will feature four large-scale canvasses, including a 2 x 7 metre painting in oils which is Botes’ most ambitious work to date. There will also be a large selection of vignettes from the artist’s drawing books, which will showcase his various influences leading up to these works, with a particular focus on Spanish artist, Francisco Goya. Botes' signature style is to use
biblical figures and myth as the core elements in his exhibitions. In this way he attempts to explore political issues in
South African history. This style will be unveiled through the allegory evident in his new work. Be sure to pop by the gallery before the exhibition closes in May.
