What Is It?
Geraldine Naidoo's
The Chilli Boy is back! After numerous sell-out seasons in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town, as well as a season on London’s West End, this one-of-a-kind theatrical production will be coming to
POPArt Theatre in Maboneng.
The Chilli Boy is South Africa satire at its absolute best. The story follows an old Indian woman reincarnated as a white gangster from Boksburg. As he nears the age of 40, this gangster start to suffer flashbacks from his previous life as an Indian woman. He subsequently dons a sari while cooking all sorts of delicious Indian curries and biryanis. He also no longer wants to fight or brawl with the blokes in Boksburg, as his newly discovered maternal instincts take over. His macho reputation is thus threatened by this unwelcome Indian invasion. Multi-award winning actor Matthew Ribnick will have you in stitches. He tackles this dual character and all of his/her complexities in just over an hour.
