What Is It?
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the
Bag Factory Artists Studio's Autumn Open Studios will now go ahead as a virtual event. The precautions and restrictions put in place by governments around the world to curb the spread of the coronavirus has had an immense impact on the Bag Factory's operations and residency programme. Due to travel restrictions, their visiting artists anxiously returned to their home countries before borders closed and they are continuing their residencies remotely.
Similarly, while the Bag Factory is closed during the national lockdown, their studio artists are researching and producing work from the confines of their home. This virtual open studio event will include
videos, virtual studio visits, and an online panel discussion with the Bag Factory's residency artists. This virtual event offers visitors a unique opportunity to see, hear about and discuss the research and work-in-progress that the artists have been developing during these strange and uncertain times.
To close off the event, there will be a panel discussion with the three international artists in residence,
moderated by Sharlene Khan. The artists are Andreas Andersson (Sweden), Erla Haraldsdóttir (Iceland) and Georgina Maxim (Zimbabwe). Don't miss it!
