A Place of Knowing @ POPArt Theatre

Joburg Admin / June 4, 2019

What Is It?

A Place of Knowing aims to give the youth a voice and the vocabulary to express their thoughts, feelings and stories. Five performers transform their personal accounts into a series of images, songs and monologues on stage. Here they unpack and explore the complexities of parent-child relationships. Finally, the play questions how these relationships affect us and shape our lives. A Place of Knowing grapples with themes of the absentee parenting, mental health, poverty and spirituality through the use of indigenous games, physical storytelling, narration and traditional African song. Ultimately, the play presents a minimalist, contemporary South African theatre piece led by five female performers. This emotionally charged piece will allow you to think, reflect and heal. Directed by Billy Langa and Mahlatsi Mokgonyana, A Place of Knowing is a must-see. When Is It? Thursday, 6 June - Sunday, 9 June 2019. Show times: Thursday, Friday & Saturday at 20:00 Sunday at 15:30
