Sheer Makes A Comeback
If you've just bought a pair of opaque tights to see you through winter, we apologise. The 1980s-inspired sheer tight is back this season! While not totally practical, these tights do add a touch of sexy to almost any outfit. However, you don't have to stick to boring old black, because this winter trend has undergone a major modern update. Sheer red tights, polka dot tights and striped sheer stockings are what's "cool" at the moment. Get quirky with your winter look and throw on a pair with your favourite mini-skirt or winter dress.
Styling Tips:
Sheer tights are prone to ladder or rip. Make sure to invest in a good pair to avoid mishaps when pulling them on. If you aren't comfortable with wearing near-naked tights, invest in a sheer blouse instead. Go for a blouse with a cuffed peasant sleeve to emphasise the 80s aesthetic or a cute pussycat bow for added sweetness.

Houndstooth
If you've ever wanted to own a houndstooth coat or suit, now's the time to invest in one. While checkered patterns were in last winter, in 2020 you're likely to see fashion fundis turn towards the more classy houndstooth look. The great thing about purchasing a coat or suit in this pattern is that it's a classic. It's likely to stick around for at least another two seasons and even then it never really goes out of style. Longer length coats are still the go-to for this season as well, so avoid a close-fitting mid-waist fit and go for the asymmetrical look instead.
Styling Tips:
This classic pattern is both demure and bold, but it can be intimidating to style. If you're going to wear it from head to toe, stick to one set pattern. But if you're going for a more casual approach, brighten things up with a colourful blouse or skirt. If you are blessed with curves, throw on a wide belt with your coat to accentuate your waist rather than your hips.

Faux Leather Trench Coat
The androgynous look is gaining more and more purchase in fashion circles, as gender norms shift to embrace fluidity. Winter is the ideal time to play around with your androgynous style and get more daring with your fashion choices. Invest in a faux or PU leather trench coat this winter to get started. The dramatic length of a trench coat may be difficult to navigate at first, but fashion is never much about comfort. Pretend that you're in the Matrix if you have to, but not in front of other people.
Styling Tips:
Brown and tan PU leather is the colour of the season, along with good old black. These colours are relatively easy to style, but try to stick with a less is more approach to ensure that the coat stands out as the centrepiece of your ensemble. Again, wear a belt if you are worried about looking bulky. If you're on the petite side, wear high heels to avoid disappearing underneath your coat.
